All My Children - Lily/Ava and Johnathan. Does anyone thinks it's weird that Johnathan is with Ava?
I mean, I get it and all, she looks just like Lily, but in what world (even soap world) would this actually work? I mean geesh, it was so obvious yesterday. I couldn%26#039;t really identify with Ava really until just yesterday. I have to admit, she%26#039;s a pretty good actress, especially for 17. Which is even weirder. Why did they pair 30 something year old Johnathan opposite a 17 year old (Levin Rambin) or whatever her name is?

Ava is mature beyond her young years and I really think that maturity plays almost as big of a role as age does (as long as they are at 18) it really depends on the couple. I am still hoping for a Lily/Jonathon reunion. They still love each other and Jonathon gets Lily and is so tender with her. But it would be Ava that would have to get them together because Lily would never go for it if she thinks it will hurt her sister in anyway.

I have oily/combination, Indian, teenage skin with large pores, weird coloring, the whole shebang (yay for me, eh?) and practically every foundation I%26#039;ve used melts off my face before the end of the day.
I%26#039;ve looked at the MAC and Lily Lolo websites and the foundations do sound really good.
The MAC people in a nearby town are really friendly, so I%26#039;d have no trouble asking for colour matches there. But I%26#039;ve read on here that sme people have experienced flakiness and cakiness...?
The Lily Lolo range is available from their website but no-ones really heard of them. From a few reviews I%26#039;ve found, their mineral based foundation gives a flawless look. You can also order little mini samples for a quid off their website, so you don%26#039;t waste money on a product that%26#039;s too light/dark.
If anyone%26#039;s had any experience with either of these, I%26#039;d be grateful for some feedback =] Actually if anybody could recommend me some foundation thats worked for them, let me know.
PS do you think full foundation, concealer, powder and the like is too heavy for a 15 year old? Even if it’s applied light?

What I do is first use a brush to apply the powder to your face. Then I use the sponge that comes in the compact. I dab it on the powder (just so very little gets on the sponge) and then I smooth it over my face. I really like the results I get from it.

I have a question on the plant tiger lily?
We bought a house last summer and we are trying to do different things with the yard this year. The people who had this house before us must have really liked tiger lily%26#039;s because there are patches everywhere. They spread so fast and the roots are so long we can%26#039;t get them all out of the ground. There are hundreds of these plants so we are wondering the best way to kill them and make sure they don%26#039;t come back. If we have to dig them all up it could take many days and they grow back so fast I don%26#039;t know if we could do it fast enough. Any Suggestions would be great. Try mixing one tablespoon of cyanne pepper in a spray bottle with 16 oz. of water and shake well. Spray the plants with this and most pests will leave and dogs will not pee on them either. It is safe and needs to be done after a good rain.
Reply:Rhubarb leavws are highly toxic. We use the leaves cooked with water, left to cool and then sprayed on bugs of all kinds. It is a very good killer but quite harmless to the plants.
Reply:You can either remove the bright red adults from the plant and squash them or get a nematode from Defenders at Wye which will do the trick.
Reply:They only way thats worked for me is to hand pick off the red adults and drop them in a jam jar with water in it. Endless task but i%26#039;ve tried various sprays without success.

Why wont my lily bloom? It is in stagenent water I had it for two years and every year I am dissapointed.

They are done flowering out, now I have just these stalks and leaves all over my flower bed. I was wondering if it would be safe to cut them down some? If it is how far can I cut without harming them?

Yea, they%26#039;re done. I%26#039;d just leave them to die back on their own. The lilies will be back in spring for sure. I%26#039;m not certain what zone tolerance the the Glads have so I don%26#039;t know if they will return in your area.

You can cut the Glads stalks down and when they are ready they should make a hardy return.

Two years ago I planted a whole bunch of assorted lily bulbs my wife bought on QVC. They bloomed profusely and now all the flowers are gone. When do I cut the stalks back? Last year I waited until the fall but had all the stalks sticking up all summer.

Peace Lily - not looking so peaceable! - Help please?
I was given two peace lilies when I moved into my house a year and a half ago. For some reason, over the last few months I have struggled to keep it looking healthy and have not had any flowers for some time.
I am not green fingered and tend to neglect plants as I forget about them..but I have tried hard with these as they are so lovely.
The leaves are still kind up, but the tips of many are browned, and the colour of some of the leaves is changing. There are lots of new shoots coming up and I suspect I need to repot now, but I wondered if anyone had any tips?
Where should peace lilies be kept, how often watered etc.

You need to give them a rest, Lilies need a dormant period before they%26#039;ll flower again.
Put them outside in a cool, shady spot and keep the soil moist but not wet. Protect them from squirrels and strong, dry, winds.
Don%26#039;t fertilize for a while. The old leaves will fall off and new growth will start soon after.
When they start to send up new leaves, put them in a semi-shady spot for a week before moving them to a sunny spot. Then fertilize with a mild solution when ever you water.

Like most flowering plants, Lilies flower best when they are slightly pot bound, so wait until you get multiple flowers before repotting.
Last year for the first time my Peace Lily sent a shoot up that was at least 3 feet tall before it flowered. Weird, but what a flower!

Check and see if it is root bound and re pot if necessary, don%26#039;t fertilize if you do re pot for a while, till it is well settled into it%26#039;s new home. Blooming takes some sun, so put it closer to a window and if not repotting fertilize, if you want you can buy fertilizer spikes and you don%26#039;t have to worry about over doing it. Peace lillies like quite a bit of water and the more crowded the pot the more water it will use. To check put you finger into the soil up to the first knuckle, it its dry, water, and always water until water runs out of the drainage holes. If you water and it just runs through, put it in a bucket or bathtub for half and hour so the plant can soak up water. If when you water, you don%26#039;t give it enough the roots have to stay up near the top and the plant gets unhealthy quickly. Hope this helps good luck

HELP!! My peace lily quit blooming!!?
I have a peace lily I was given 3 years ago. It has a lot of sentimental value to me. It started blooming great big blooms, and they%26#039;ve gotten smaller and smaller and now there are none. I have it in the place of the house it prefers (a bright bathroom) and I let it droop a little before I water it. I fertilize with houseplant fertilizer. What am I doing wrong?

Hi all Just to let you know that in order for Spathyphilly (Peace Lily) to blossum, the plant must be totally pot bound to the point where only roots are visible when taken out of the pot. When bought the plants are always pot bound and when they end thier flower cycle, they need to be potted into the next size pot. Remember also that they really do not like to be fertilized. If you live in an area with a lot of sun, a tiny bit of organics may not cause salt burn, but as we near the shorter days, fertilizer burn is a major factor for discoloring the tips of the leaves.

I was a little confused too because we got another one around the same time that had many beautiful blooms and it still blooms to this day.The one that blooms we keep by a window in the back of our home where it gets sunlight all the time. Mine get a little droopy too before I water it.Is it a big plant or a little plant? If it is larger you may need to replant it to a bigger pot or change its soil.Also look it up on the internet...there r alot of good help out there...or get a plant book from the library also. Im sorry I cant help more :-(
Reply:I would separate it into two clumps and repot them in some good rich dirt, then give them some coffee grounds and eggs shells mixed in, I%26#039;d also give them a little rooting hormone for good measure and a bit of liquid plant food, not fertilizer, depending on how they were adapting after the move.

I do it in the winter time. anyway your peace lilly probably should be put in a larger pot so the roots have plenty of room to spread out. then give it plenty of su but not full sun. you will burn it. foliage plants grow on the floor of tropical forest so filtered light is best. You may even want to divide your peace lilly and have 2. It could have just out grown itself. if you repot it check to see if it was root bound, if so gently loosen up the root system before you repot. don%26#039;t forget to water real well after. hope I helped

When should I plant all my day lily and lilly bulbs?
I have already bough 2 daylillies and 12 lillies, i planted them 2 weeks ago. Only about 4 are coming up. And i planted some other bulbs like dahlia and a couple of others, but none of those came up. Why is this? Are they going to come up at all? I know they won%26#039;t bloom this year, but did they die? They were%26#039;t mushy or anything. I planted all the bulbs including the lillies all the proper ways, but so far only a couple of lillies are coming up, and none of the dahlias and the others are coming up. they can be planted at any time but fall is the best. They are cold hardy most places except places with very harsh winters.
Reply:Lilly%26#039;s come up in the spring after having their winter chill period. The daylily%26#039;s are most likely the ones that are growing, as you can plant them about any time. It would help to know what growing zone you are in, and if you had any instructions about how deep to plant them.
Reply:Personally, I planted my bulbs in the fall of last year, and they bloomed very nicely in the spring Apr-May. I have also planted some in the summer months, and also did not receive great results. Hold tight and I think next spring you will see great results.
As for the rest of the bulbs, usually fall is the best time to plant. :-)

Daylily (Hemerocallis) is a perennial in most parts of the country, and can be purchased during the growing season as a potted perennial with leaves, flowers and buds relatively inexpensively. They are almost indestructible once established.
As for the lilies, hold tight. I had a few come up their first year, and almost all of them the second. Be sure to water them as if they were growing. Again, you can buy them in the summer as potted perennial plants.

Reply:Personally, I planted my bulbs in the fall of last year, and they bloomed very nicely in the spring Apr-May. I have also planted some in the summer months, and also did not receive great results. Hold tight and I think next spring you will see great results.
As for the rest of the bulbs, usually fall is the best time to plant. :-)

Which Lily Did You Like Better?
Hey Y%26amp;R fans, do you remember two years ago when the Crystal Khalil (the present Lily Winters) let the cast and months later, Davetta Sherwood (the new Lily Winters) joined as the temporary Lily? I liked both Lilys, I was accustomed to Crystal Khalil playing her character, to me I think that Davetta Sherwood was better for the role. To me, she (Davetta) seemed more spunkier for the role than Crystal, what do you think Y%26amp;R views?

Peace lily alternative for a betta?

My betta has been happy and healthy in the bowl for over a year now, and I follow the directions on this page to the letter...he has plenty of space, gets fed regularly, etc.
My question is: are there any plants I can put in the top of the bowl instead of the peace lily I initially bought? The peace lily works great but is getting really old and needs to be replaced but naturally a new one is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Any alternatives?

Water lettuce can be used in a betta tank. If kept trim and not allowed to set runners, still allows your fish to surface for air when needed.
I would discourage any LARGE plant that would take up the entire surface of the water or roots that would crowd the bowl.

Bettas need more swimming room and as already mentioned, need surface area to breathe as they get their air from the surface. At the least, take the flower out and if possible, get a larger, filtered tank.

How can I get my spathyphillum (peace lily) to reflower?
I have a peace lily that I bought about a year ago. Shortly after I got it, my apartment was taken over by gnats because I was overwatering my plants. My peace lily survived and it has begun to thrive and grow to a nice size with lots of healthy leaves, but it won%26#039;t produce flowers anymore! Ughh! I tried giving it EXTRA diluted plant food (like 10 drops per gallon of water), but that produced burn marks on the tips of the leaves. What can I do to make it reflower? HELP!

Introducing a new guinea pig?
hello!
i have three lovely female guineas- here%26#039;s the scoop:
lily %26amp; clover are just under a year old, and have lived together since they were very young. i just got a new baby pig- who im thinking of either calling fern, delilah, or clementine... not quite sure yet, but anyways...
lily %26amp; clover are seeming a little big pushy so far- i have the baby pig living in a separate cage still (to make sure she%26#039;s not sick or anything) but have introduced all three.
delilah is very curious about the other 2 and wants to be friends for sure... i was wondering if you guys think things will hopefully work out between all three??
the lady at the pet store said that since lily %26amp; clover are still a bit young- under 1yr- that they should have no trouble welcoming in a new-comer... any advice on how to do this the best, or how long it could take?
i have had guinea pigs for 11 years now, and love them SO much- i really want this to work out.

And after a few weeks maybe...you can put Delilah in Lilly and Clover%26#039;s cage..so when Delilah moves in, it won%26#039;t be a complete surprise.....but make sure that they get along when you play with them...if they don%26#039;t then it%26#039;s probably better for them to be in seperate cages...you should also put the cages a little close together...not || that close....give them all some room...if you see Lily or Clover trying to get into the other cage....then I think it%26#039;s time for Delilah to move in...
